Has anyone had problems with D'Addario strings being mispackaged recently? I sent an order to Just Strings several months ago. Among the strings I purchased were two sets of D'Addario EJ69B's. I don't usually use these strings anymore because I prefer a slightly heavier gauge but I am building two six string banjos and decided to go with lighter strings to accomodate the extra tension of the additional bass string. Since I am using Kluson tailpieces I wanted to use ball end strings.
I got one of the banjos put together a while ago and decided to string it so I can set it up and trouble shoot the problems. Both sets of strings had some other kind of strings in them even though the packages were properly marked. Each one contained five pairs of loop end strings with three sets of bronze wound and two sets of plain steel in them. Obviously they came from the factory that way, the packages were both unopened. I don't have any other D'Addario strings to check right now. I used my regular GHS PF130's to string the banjo but I would rather have used lighter strings.
Has anyone else encountered this?
You just can't get good help anymore.
Perhaps if you contact D'addario, they'll send you a few free sets.
Definitely contact D'Addario. Their resolution to several problems of mine has turned me into a loyal customer.
I have also run into mislabeled strings lately. I bought a few packs of loop-end strings, but the strings in the packages were ball-end.
I like there strings and at times have used there ny steel line..what i Don't like is there switching to all the strings being loose in the pkg
And using a colored wraper to mark the strings for gauging and position...
This is great for regular people...but im SEVERELY COLOR BLIND
my last re string was a complete disater...im back to
Sounds like a packing machine spit the wrong string into the wrong envelope when the robot 'coughed'. Just Strings will probably make it right if you contact them or D'Addario. We've been having similar problems with other products from Amazon. Mint instead of Cinnamon, etc.
I've used D'Addario strings on my banjo and on many bass guitars for decades and have always been very happy and loyal to to/with them.
I don't fault Just Strings because they can't open the packages and make sure the packages have the right strings. They might make it right but it is not their mistake. These came from the factory like this. I will contact D'Addario and see what they say.
I like D'Addario strings but I went to GHS strings a few years ago because they package sets in the gauges that I like. I could order D'Addario strings individually but I don't hear enough difference in sound to justify going to that effort.
