I called my mother to find out how things are going. I knew my brother in law had injured his neck. I knew my sister had broken her ankle. I learned my brother cracked his ribs and my niece had injured her back. Rough fortnight for my mother's house. I am very happy to have all my fingers and toes in all the right places in working order.

Hope all is well with you all!

Are you sure you shouldn't send the cops to your mother's house? Seems as if there's a lot of "accidents" happening. wink

Around here: my day surgery postponed, prostate biopsy being scheduled (ouch!), the Mrs, is generally fine (thyroid meds), the cat has hyperthyroidism and takes special salt-free cat food.

Or you could ignore that second paragraph and assume we're "fine".

I know the feeling.

I went to the eye doctor to get new glasses and see about my dry eye last week. She called in a prescription for eyedrops. Said they "might be" a little expensive. Called the pharmacy. $469 and insurance wouldn't pay a penny!!! She called in another when I complained about the cost and what was it? Over $500 and no insurance coverage. Gee, you'd think these doctors would check prices after a patient complains about the cost. I won't even go into the sticker shock for glasses.

My daughter went and got her vaccine shot Thursday. Called and said she didn't feel good. Called again Friday night. She'd called an ambulance because she had a fever, was dizzy and nauseated. Spent the evening in the ER. Nothing except a bad reaction to the shot. Her husband got one the same day and only had a slightly sore arm. Go figure.

Broke a tooth and went to the dentist. Need a crown. Another sticker shock.

Other than that.... everything is okay.

Well we all are doing good. Other than the usual arthritic aches and pains I am well. She is heading out today the gym for exercise with her buddies.
I am planning to get a few projects done in the shop as well as prep the garden for planting in a few weeks. Tomato and pepper starts are doing well in the front bay window.
So far this year we are doing well but had 2 close friends die of cancer with in weeks of each other and found out over the weekend that our ex-brother-in-law was put on a ventilator and is not expected to survive.
Just hoping that all goes well for everyone for the rest of the year.

Terry, do check online with GoodRX or similar online drug discount cards and see what that prescription would cost with their discount. For reasons unknown to me, that sometimes takes hundreds of dollars off of a prescription. Seriously, check it out.

These were antibiotic drops, not just normal drops for dry eye.

I'm going to get Sustane next time I go to the store or pharmacy.

Sherry, go to GoodRX on line and see if they have a discount coupon for the prescription. My wife had a prescription for some Parkinson's medication that her insurance wouldn't cover. GoodRX saved us quite a bit.

Chuck, it's not the colonoscopy, it's the few days' prep before  ... .

Prep? Purge.

Just had it done Chuck ...... all's well up there  ..... one polyup removed.

The first time I had it done, the day before prep wasn't bad at all, but the scope was extremly painful as I wasn't completely knocked out (I guess).  This time the prep was awful (and expensive) as the stuff I had to take was prescription and tasted worse than awful.  The procedure couldn't could not have been better and the Propofol (sp?) that puts you under is good stuff .... no after effects at all.

Yeah, I know ..... all your's is free (which may make it taste better)!

Hi John,,, glad everything came out (!) ok in the end! It’s my first loco-noscopy so I’m waiting with thrilling anticipation.

Be well.

Chuck, do you s'pose it would be worthwhile to have the doc provide a note saying that there's no evidence of yer head being, or ever having been, in there?    .... just for future use, if need be, ya know!!  cheeky

You gotta be careful. Cranial rectal insertion can be fatal.

I don't know why this makes me recall a Groucho Marx quote:

Outside of a dog, a book is Man's best friend

Inside of a dog, it is too dark to read.

May they NOT find any book reading dogs when they shine the light!

I have had some more surgical adventures. Exactly one month ago, I had 5 hours of back and spine surgery. The spinal canal of the lower back had narrowed so much and impinged on the spinal chord that I barely could walk. The neurosurgeon cleaned out the bone and disk material from the lumbar 2 vertebrae to the sacral 1, 5 vertebrae and disks. All the bone and disk material removal weakened the structures, so the 5 were fused using titanium rods and screws. The rods now match the titanium wire in my sternum from my heart surgery! 5 days in the hospital and 2 weeks in a rehab hospital. Now, I am home. Walking has improved already, but a few weeks more physical therapy is in store. Special rules to follow: NOBLT. No bending, lifting or twisting for several weeks. The prospects of walking again is worth dealing with the pain of recovery.I think I have had enough surgery for a while. Any more titanium and I will become the bionic man.
