I'm in the process of selling my 1989 Gibson Granada (Currently listed on the "Marketplace" serial number 8904-36) . I was told when I bought it many years ago from the previous owner, that it has a McPeake tone ring on it. How do I verify if it is a McPeake Ring? I see no marking on the visible portion of the ring when I remove the resonator.

I'm not sure about this, but I seem to remember a monogram somewhere on at least some of the McPeake rings.
Someone will have to confirm that, though.

You may find a engraving on the inside of the ring. You would need to remove the tone ring to see that.

Thanks Bob and Roy for your quick response.

I was afraid of that. I'm not a big fan of dismantling and resetting up my banjo to find out. If I decide to do that I will post pics on the engraving or mark that I find.

I wonder what it takes to get Jeff to reply to private messages- as I’ve sent 3 without any responses. I have questions and I’d like to discuss. Does anyone have the magic decoder ring?
