I have an old pen back banjo that I know is over 100 years old. It is stamped DHB. It has some ivory parts and inlaid mother of pearl decoration. The drum is shot but the structure is sound. How can I sell this item? Does it have value?
I’ll chime in first to save others the trouble, please post some clear photographs, in particular the rim, back of the pot and peg head and I’m sure the knowledg3able guys here will be able to help.
Let me add some banjo photo pointers.
Take the instrument out of the case.
Photo full front and full back.
Closeup of peghead front and back
Closeup of neck heel (where neck and rim meet
Closeup of rim hardware
Close up of DHB stamp
Closeup of inlays
Closeup of any details you think are interesting.
Post the photos directly to this forum page. Going to your home page and linking under media is kind of a pain and the pictures are bigger and significantly easier to view on the forum page.
When you load the pictures to Banjo Hangout, you can load as many as you want, but a maximum of 3 at a time.
I hope this inside information is helpful.
