I just moved to Ithaca and I’m trying to plug into the local scene here. Anyone have any leads? Thanks in advance!

dustyelmer try the New York State Old Tme Fiddlers Association. Maybe they can point you in the right direction. I think Winterfest Music in Ithaca has a festival each year.

Thanks Jeff, I’ll check their site. I know the scene was thriving here at one point!

Dusty,
There was a old time / folk venue in Trumansburg just outside of Ithaca, Richie Stearns would play there occassionally with the Horse Fly’s but that was a while ago. You could also contact the folks at Bernunzio's in Rochester, they have their finger on old time music in Upstate New York and John Bernunzio now lives in Penn Yan, just over another Finger Lake from you.

I believe that the New York OT Fiddlers met at a campground in Osceola, N Y, about 40 miles northeast of Syracuse. Here is some contact information.

Hey Dusty,
Check out Ithaca Guitar Works, down on Seneca St.
They’re good people. They also have a website.
Welcome to the area. I live on the next lake over, near Watkins Glen.
We moved here 2 years ago. It’s an interesting place.
