I bought an older model Goodtimes Special a month ago. I've been playing it non-stop since then, having fallen totally in love with the banjo, after a fifteen-year break caused by selling my old Vega. SOOOO good to be back! I treated myself to a new bridge and chose to contact Steve Davis, after reading the reviews here. I told him I like melodic playing and wanted something to make for a full, rich sound. Steve suggested a roasted maple bridge with an ebony top, and a weight of around 2.25 grams. That bridge came today, and the improvement in sound is astonishing. Clean, rich, and beautiful, with the high notes ringing like bells. I am blown away by what a difference a bridge can make, and would like the thank Steve for this huge improvement in my sound.
Yeah, they're nice aren't they!?! I got when when I switched my open back from steel to nylon. The new bridge really sweetened it up. Looks spiffy too.
Here, here. I, too, have bought several bridges and appreciate his workmanship and demeanor.
I've bought a number of bridges from Steve.
I've had great results from each of them.
