This cool early jazz tune came up recently in a thread in the jazz section of BHO, and that discussion (found here) reminded me of this tune I learned about 40 years ago had not thought of in many years.
I first learned this in 1979 or 1980 from a friend in Spartanburg who was much older than me and into jazz and swing tunes and who is an amazing singer-songwriter in his on right. He had picked this up from some old Fats Waller recordings and we'd jam on this from time to time. Since then, this tune has come up maybe 10 times at various jam sessions, it's not in the bluegrass repertoire for sure. But is sure could be.
I had been working on a video to accompany this material when today my camera decided it would no longer cooperate with me. Having already spent way too much time on this I figured I'd just render a midi file to an MP3 for now which gets the point across. Once I can get my technical glitches ironed out on my video setup I may re-visit and post here. I hope so because I have all sorts of ideas for chord choices and backup vamping that are not represented in this tab.
But for now, I wanted to go ahead and share this arrangement I came up with which is not too difficult. I love these old tunes, they're fun to play.
I've uploaded this to the BHO tab archive for what it's worth, including the .tef and .pdf versions (found here) so you can play around with it on your own.
For what it's worth, I hope you enjoy :)
