It looks like an asian banjo, but if someone can tell me more...
Sorry, no more pics for now

I really can’t guess as to the exact make, but the peghead inlay is the same as on a late 1960’s Strom banjo that I had.

Richelieu bought them I think in the 70’s, but he branded his instruments. Don’t know if they sold inlays, kits or whatever.

I would call it a solid parts banjo. You do have Gibson tuners on it, so there is a start. As for the rest...

Thank you, the owner says it has a Richelieu head, maybe another clue

Could be a Richelieu, or a Parts banjo with a Richelieu neck, or just a straight off parts instrument with a Gibson style pot and tone ring.

Richelieu made some pretty solid instruments. So if you are looking for a decent tenor banjo, this may be it.

Since there is no identification of any kind on it, I would be hesitant to pay too much for it. If it’s a decent price, go for it.

The peghead decoration was in the Vitali Imports catalog I had in the mid 1970's. Likely Strom and the posted tenor banjo's maker had access to that pre-inlaid overlay.

Thanks, the owner is thinking $500, I’m hesitating since it’s too far away to check it out in person
