I'm assembling a Terry Bell kit for someone and I'd appreciate your wisdom on what tension I should crank the pre-mounted hide head up to? It has a 13-inch pot, only 6 tension hooks, and a real thin tension hoop.
Oh, please don't say "until it sounds nice" as I'm, well, uhhh, not at all a fan of the sound/tone of this type of instrument so it'll never "sounds nice to me..." A Drum Dial number, or range of numbers, would be hugely helpful.

It is tricky to get good head tension on a Boucher rim with only 6 hooks. I have found that the hooks and wingnut threads tend to strip when turning under pressure/stress. I have included an image showing a clamping technique for relieving the pressure so the nuts can be easily tightened without stripping the threads.
