I'm having an odd problem with my Keith tuners that are 6 months old. They seem to occasionally be seizing up, is the best way to describe it, and I don't want to force them. They'll be fine for something like Earl's breakdown for days, then suddenly when trying to turn the key down it just. . .stops, before the lowered pitch. Like it's locked up, but not near the pitch I set it on.
I've lubed them, tried different tensions with 2 set screws and the main "button screw", the only thing that frees them up is completely loosening them and they tune normally, for normal type playing.
I'm going to send them back to Beacon, and like others, have not been able to contact them with phone or email. Guess I'm going to simply send them back and see if they can figure out what's going on with them.
Anyone know what's happening at Beacon and turn around time? Thanks for any info.
There was a reply in the "other banjo related topics" section two days ago.
The title of the thread is something like "Beacon Banjo, Martin Keith".
Anyway Martin Keith replied on 1/24. Did you see that?
I checked it out, that's a big relief, I'll just go ahead and send 'em. Delays are understandable in these times.
