I came across this banjeaurine and the peg head looks like a Weymann? I cannot find anything online that has these inlays, and it looks like a Cole type neck brace. The heel has a custom inlay that I guess could be someone's initials? Has anyone come across one like this before and if so - is it a Weymann or Washburn?

Thanks Bob. I thought it may be a Cole but the peg head shape looked more like a Weymann. Also, the seller says there are no markings in the pot so it would be an unmarked Cole. I am waiting for more pictures that could help identify it.

Made by Cole, in all probability for W.E. Stratton or Stratton & Handley of Lowell, Massachusetts. I have photos of several banjeaurines with the same inlays. Every Stratton or Stratton & Handley I have seen had the owner's initials inlaid in the heel. They also had banjos made by Haynes.
I've seen a few Washburn bowl back mandolins that look just like Weymanns. I don't know much about mandolins and the connection but there certainly appears to be one.

I've owned a few of these Stratton & Handleys - all built by Boston makers...I've owned two by Cole's and one by Bay State. Their selling point must have been the initials on the heelcap!
Attached is a pdf containing photos of four Stratton banjeaurines. The first two have Cole hardware. The second two have Haynes hardware.
Thanks for those images Harry. The one I am looking at appears identical to your first image that has Cole hardware.
Received a few more pictures of the banjeaurine. Not the best photos but shows it does have all Cole hardware and aside from being dusty, looks good. It has a nice backstrap.
I received the Stratton & Handley by Cole banjeaurine, cleaned it up and added new nylgut strings. It has an 11” pot and a real nice 21.5 scale neck. Beautiful little banjo.
That is a beautiful little Cole banjo you ended up with! Congrats! When you said it had a 21.5 inch scale neck I had to grab the tape and go check out the little Celebrated Benary banjo I’m working on in my garage.... It was 22 inches! But only a 9 inch head. How does yours sound?

I thought it goes directly to you. I clicked on your BHO name and it comes up with your homepage which contains a Send a Private Message button. I think you have to turn on the ability to receive private messages in your profile.
But even with the private message option I did not see a way to attach the sound file.
