might have to go up to alaska for work luckily i have a banjo but will it be a pain in the ass to get strings/picks since most places don't ship there?
is their an existing country/folk scene in alaska? (would not be surprised I bet some pioneers brought their fiddles/banjos with them on their way to the alaska gold rush).
-any alaskan pickers?
...since most places don't ship there?
Anchorage has USPS service, UPS, FedEx. Most every place ships here.
The only caveat is have to check what they might charge; read fine print of "free" shipping "might" only be lower 48.
There are a few stores that have banjo strings; but often limitied in selection.

There are folks that play fiddle/banjo... but most came up within the last 40 years or so. There is a folk music scene; as well bluegrass, OT and other. Obviously been more or less shut down. Would be having our annual Anchorage Folk Festival these next 2 weeks... some smaller component will be online.
--------------
Juneau is long long way from Anchorage, and has less music stores.
