A friend of mine has a 1924 Whyte Laydie mandolin banjo and would like to fit it with a resonator, preferably a close fitting one.
I don't remember seeing close fitting ones made for a 10 1/8" rim, but I told I'd ask about it on this forum.
They are generally like hens teeth in my limited experience. If they were made at all, I'm no expert. Closest I ever came across was a 10 3/4 in incher which had been modified considerably. You may know more sellers over your side of the pond than I do, so you may have more luck. I keep looking at Bernunzio and Bob Smakula, but no luck so far.
Good luck from Bill.
Hey Mike, I have 3 Vega resonators sitting in a box. Please send me an email so I can get you whatever pics and measurements you might need.
Will do, Dan. And thanks, Bill.

Thanks, Hayao. I have seen those in various sizes. But the type of resonator I'm referring to has walls that cover the nuts.
I think I have what you are looking for, I`ve only ever seen this one, it`s a push fit over the back of the rim, quite deep, two and a half inches, with four felt lined blocks that the rim is pushed into, nothing but friction holding it on. It has a Vega label glued inside but I always thought it a bit suss! It does have the typical Vega "pie section" veneer on the back and faux tortoise shell binding.
Ala, it also has a nasty crack in the sidewall and a couple of holes where I guess someone had tried to get a more secure fastening. I`ll try and get some pics for you tomorrow.
Much appreciated, Deke. I don't think you can send photos with a private message. Please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
