...boy am I glad we [at least some of us] are a little more laid-back in Canada and the UK:   https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jan/19/woman-jailed-for-record-43-years-for-insulting-thai-monarchy

I used to work with a British fellow who had previously worked for Jaguar Motor Cars. The bathroom (loo) they used was up a flight of stairs. They had a picture of the Queen pasted to the wall at the top of the stairs and a tray of darts at the bottom. I wonder how many years you’d get for throwing darts at the monarch in Thailand.

The basis of a monarchy seems to be
"I am worthy to be the head of the nation for no better reason than my immediate ancestors were heads of the nation because their immediate ancestors were heads of the nation ."
Not really the BEST rationale, but I'm sure it makes LOTS of sense to the heirs to the throne.

King, Sultan, Tsar, whatever.
Even in some places where elections are held, like the hereditary KIM dynasty in North Korea.

Ah, well.

But she doesn.t do her "... 'hem, 'hem, 'hem ..." this time.

Good stab at entitlement, though.

Fwiw, here's a link to the action (?) part of the "royal wave":                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngqLqXctqq8

Well, she deserved it you see, because she was not thinking Right Thoughts, and anyone not thinking Right Thoughts must be punished, and harshly.
Only Right Thoughts must be allowed to exist.

As populations of countries become more and more diversified in just about every way, I wonder if public opinions on different things change. Some royalty are very low profile. You don't hear much about the Dutch or Danish royal families. A prominent Spanish royal person had to recently flee the country.

I don't have any problem with our Queen. I can't see how she influenced my life badly in any way. It's another story for people of the U.K.

We used to sing God save the Queen in elememtary school & her picture hung in our classrooms with the Union Jack until we got our own flag. My dad flew the Jack & a pirate flag on his boat when I was a kid.

I remember a bar room trick where you could fold up a bill to show a certain part of the Queens anatomy. Heh Heh!

With our old £10 notes from the 90's, a little bit of folding would combine the queen and Charles Dickens to produce John Mackenroe

Terry says she nows how to fold the Queen so she's smiling or frowning. She's trying now.

It doesn't work that great with our new plastic bills.

Like this. Not a Canadian bill but you get the idea.

Here's how it's done in Canada:  https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/governor-general-payette-step-down-1.5882675     It's good to see that so far the people lodging the complaints haven't gotten it in the neck..... or 43 years in the clink.
