So I've been a 4-string tenor player for the last 40+ years, playing the same music, and in the same band (OK, I had detours along the way) and now I've got one of those Dean 6-string banjitars (guitarjos, etc) that I want to learn to play.
Granted, I am trying to branch out a bit, but I am also trying to serve as an example to any guitar players we come across (assuming gigs are allowed again post pandemic) that they could play with the band and not have to start over.
Any tips, suggestions, rules of thumb?
And yes, I've checked YouTube. There are plenty of reviews or "this vs. that" video, but not a lot of instruction that isn't really just a "guitar lesson".
Is there such a thing as a guitar chord book for banjo players?

I haven’t seen a book like that, but I did play tenor banjo in a Dixie-style band using Chicago style tuning, which is the first four strings of a guitar, DGBE. I used mostly the same chords that were written for the piece. I played guitar previously in swing and some in big band, so I had a little background. I didn’t have the two bottom strings that a guitar would have, so sometimes I’d have to work out inversions to get notes. I would advise to just follow the guitar chart and learn the chords. Have fun!
Since a "banjitar" is tuned exactly like a regular guitar, guitar chord charts will work fine.
