"local pickup only". Apparently, once you find a rube this big, there are advantages to meeting him in person.

There are just so many things wrong with that add.

He claims the condition is "used" right under the definition of used as being used with some signs of cosmetic wear !! I couldn't even tell it was a banjo at first. I thought it was a beat up case !

He wants local pickup only. No shipping. Is he afraid the banjo might get damaged ?

The starting bid is $20,000.....Duh

I was wondering why he wanted so much money for it, then I read the 'item description' and it all became clear

He's taking "Best Offer". Maybe you can get it for a song and a dance if you pick it up in person! :)

That’s absolutely insane.

Just what is it that drives these “sellers” to list JUNK like that at such astronomical prices?

That banjo is NOT for sale, at the price it’s listed at. It stupefies me.

Maybe I should sell my “rare, vintage, antique, one-of-a-kind” upright bass for $500,000.

Local pickup only? For $20,000, I want a trip by private jet to the location, and a stay at a plush hotel to boot.

Yet another example of a CLUELESS seller.

eBay seems to be getting more and more filled with junk, and less and less interesting stuff. They have the worst search engine in the world.

Some duct tape wouldn't hurt that head any either.  Too bad I spent my last $20,000 on Megabucks tickets.

I agree that the ask is unrealistic, but... at least when I opened the page, I found a used Deering Goodtime Artisan Americana model available at the bargain price of $2251.39 plus shipping! wink

What on earth serves as the “basis” for their asking price?

Their delusions of a potential gold mine?

The fact that their great, great, great grandfather owned it?

Whatever the reason may be, nobody’s going to be stupid enough to bid on that thing for a looooooooooooong time.

But, suddenly that $4500 Civil War banjo from 1887 seems reasonable, especially since it was carried by his great, great grandfather!

Situations like this make me think of pick-up lines with girls.....they wouldn’t do it if it didn’t work sometimes ??

This person is obviously misinformed about "old" banjos being worth a lot.

The one thing I understand about this listing is the part where he says, "seller does not accept returns." If I was crooked enough to stick someone with that piece of garbage for 20,000 bucks, I wouldn't accept returns either.

I bet he wants the 20k in small, unmarked bills.

For $20k it must be a rare banjo built in 1792 and carried in the Revolutionary War.

Revolutionary War? I suppose it could have been shot out of a Revolutionary War cannon. Or maybe George Washington dropped it out of the boat while crossing the Delaware. Or maybe it was one of the victims of the Massacre at Hancock's Bridge.

Or, from its condition, maybe all three.

He/she must be new to eBay. He/she has had only one other sell on eBay. There are three other items currently for sale by this person, including an NCIS Farting Hippo!
