Hi all! I just signed up for the contest this September 2021 in Winfield by the walnut valley festival. Anyone here ever been or is going?
I never entered into competition but I was booked there to play with a band in 2019. A lot of walking and such but it was a good time!
Is it still scheduled for that date ? At the current time I make sure some some events will happen and places are open before I leave home.
Right now, plans are uncertain.
We have put back opening fiddlersdream.org until later
Thus our use of Zoom.com for open stage. Until the coast is clear
Many mutual artists have played both venues

I went there in 1977. I slept in a pup tent. I hiked into town for breakfast every morning. Those were the best breakfasts I ever had in a restaurant. I sat 4 feet away from Norman, Nancy and Red Rector at a workshop. I have many good memories from there.
The first time I went to Winfield my wife had just gotten to sleep around midnight in a tent when she heard our next door neighbor warming up his bagpipes. Scared her to death!
She never went back but I could see the humor in the situation.
