Hi All -
I got an old Luscomb piccolo banjo for Christmas. It appears to be from the late 1880's, with gut (or nylon) strings and an 8 inch head. A couple of basic questions:
* What string gauges are used on these little beasts?
* Where can I get a period-correct bridge? The solid, old bridge has extra slots and is a bit rough on top.
Thanks! - Max
Post photos when ya can! Thanks!
Strings . . . Buy LaBella early instrument singles (rectified nylon and a silver wound nylon fourth) in the following gauges:
You can buy them on LaBella's website.
For a bridge, contact Joel Hooks. He makes period replicas and is a member here.
wow ! I got socks and deodorant ! fab Xmas gift !
I know, right? Totally unexpected gift.
Thanks @csacwp for the suggestions. I'll reach out to Joel about a bridge and get some strings.
Lovely little banjo Max, enjoy !
