How's it going everyone! I bought a banjo about two weeks ago. Yesterday, I seperated the head and neck. (I know, bad idea for a newbie.). I'm just having trouble readjusting the action and neck angle now that I reassembled it. Any tips and tricks? I can find videos on youtube but none are a 3 piece rod like this.
What you have is an Asian cheapy banjo called a 'bottlecap' on account of the protrusions on the rim for the hooks. The neck attaches to the rim via the medium nut. The threaded part the nut screws on goes through the slotted hole in the rim. This allows the neck to be positioned up or down against the rim. This is the first one you adjust to get the action right. Once you have achieved that tighten the nut
firmly using a spanner. The fret board must be level to the rim and not angled. you make like to loosen slightly the small inside nut at the tailpiece end of the desired action is achieved tighten firmly the small nut. Good luck.
