Well, we made jamming work over the summer. Covid cases and deaths were down and we could sit outside and play our music. But now it's cold and dark and wet and covid cases in our area are higher than they have ever been. Also, the average age of my jamming group is somewhere around 127, plus or minus a few years. We talked all summer about making some kind of winter jamming space; covered, open on the sides, with a few space heaters and perhaps a propane fire circle in the middle, but we never got around to it. Waiting now for the messenger ribonucleic acid miracle.

Well heck, if you can pull off a outdoor, December jam in Medicine Hat, I guess we should give it a go here!

It's unusual, but hey,,we called in the glowball warming gods...
(AZ/CA in January at Blythe BG Fstvl the temps dipped to 45 in the evening - jamming never stopped,, at least where there were fire pits)

My jam group moved indoors into a heated garage mid November, but I stopped going in early October. There were members who were in total denial and they would encroach upon the space of everyone. My last time there one guy was inches from my face telling me about when he went to Laconia for motorcycle week some 20 years ago. A couple weeks before 2 women were arguing with me and both got within 2 feet as they were spewing the hoax garbage.

Well Dave, as a banjo player, you should be used to women wanting to be in close proximity to you. It's a blessing and a curse.

Pub venues have been off-limits here since March. So a core group (maximum 6 of us) from our regular OT session got together outdoors every week over the summer and autumn. When it started to get too cold after sunset we booked a local hall. Turned out that hall has amazing acoustics...
...two weeks later the second lockdown hit and now North Somerset is in tier 3 restrictions which still prevent meeting in that hall.
The loss of regular contact with music buddies is really tough.

Distance jamming in the park
We do a zoom open stage every Thursday night since March
Ensembles and groups are welcome
One song rotation, we’ve been getting 3 or 4 songs per night each
Not a perfect thing but we are working it
All you need is a Mike and laptop
If one Mike is good enough for Del McCoury , good enough for me
