Hi

I am trying to learn Cripple Creek and I've seen two YouTube videos where they play a high part in the middle with the LH Position starting on the 9th fret (or maybe even higher).

None of the tabs I have found so far have got this part in.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks

Joe

Here's a couple to look at:

banjobluegrass.free.fr/Banjo_tabs_C.html - scroll down to where it says Cripple Creek up the neck and download
banjohangout.org/tab/browse.as...l&v=16567
banjohangout.org/tab/browse.as...l&v=21206 - this one is in our tab archives

You will need to have either Tabledit or Tefview to download, print and play. If you do not have this software, you can get it here:
Tefview: tabledit.com/tefview/index.shtml -- a FREE demo download
Tabledit: tabledit.com/ -- this is the complete software package.

Hope the above helps with what you want.

Welcome to the Hangout, we're a friendly bunch. All our tabs are FREE, so go to the left hand side of the page, click on Learn and then on Banjo Tab Library and check out our tabs.

NOTE:  I'm moving this from the bluegrass forum to the tab discussion forum.  Maybe someone will have other tabs that aren't in our archives that they might be willing to share with you.

The high part you're describing is probably a tune often called Banjo in the Hollow. It's often taught as an introduction to basic melodic style. The chords for the A part (first part) are the same as Cripple Creek. The B part is slightly different, but the tune works as a variation when you want to play more than one verse of Cripple Creek.

That's my guess anyway.

Murphy Henry lesson on Banjo in the Hollow.

@Texasbanjo @OldHickory Thank you very much. That's a great help.

FWIW the part appears 30sec into this...

Thanks again

I think the second link Sherry  gave (https://www.banjohangout.org/tab/browse.asp?m=detail&v=16567) contains the high part, taken from Banjo In The Hollow
