Well maybe more memorable than happy..... or, truth be told, maybe more forgettable???
Edit: I'm reminded of a story a brother of mine told me from when he worked in Vancouver in the late 50s. I could be sketchy on the details.... maybe Donc or ??? can provide corrections. As I heard it there was a ceremonial cannon downtown [Gastown??] that was fired each summer evening at some specified time. Apparently unbeknownst to the "operators" one day somebody put a rock down into the barrel.... the story I recall was that the rock went thru a service station sign across the intersection [or park??].... thankfully no personal injuries.

I remember seeing that video some years ago - what were they thinking . I bet that beach was very popular with the local bird life for quite some time.
some years back, a dead whale washed up the tidal river where my dad lives. It spent a couple of weeks floating several miles up and downstream on the tide whilst the Environment Agency (look after rivers) and local council had a bun fight about who's responsibility it was. Luckily for the both of them there was either a large downpour of rain or big tide and off it floated back to see - just like free Willy , but dead. It was funny to see, 1 because it was a whale and 2 my dad must be 30 miles inland, yet still, every once in a while, he'll look out of the window and see a seal bobbing about in the water.
Wikipedia has mention of "...a ceremonial cannon downtown [Gastown??] that was fired each summer evening at some specified time. It looks like my brother probably gave me the straight goods, and the screwy details are my doing.
