Are you sure that isn't "Aria"?

No matter......we'll need pictures to even venture a guess as to what the banjo is.

Arita is the trademark for instruments sold by the Newark Music Instruments Company in Newark, NJ. Asian instruments - bottlecap 5 string has MSLP of $311 and an open back with MSLP of $227.

Thanks Deestexas. From what we found online, I believe these were actually made by Aria in the seventies and the eighties. I’m going to post a few pics.

A close up of the peghead shape & the name  may reveal the maker.  ( Only one pic is uploaded.  It appears to be a product of the Kasuga factory, .. but need more pics)

The maker's name doesn't matter much. These were generic product sold with various names by vaious dealers. I'd guess a late 1970's or 1980's date. These banjos used usually bring about $100--$125; maybe more on a good day, maybe less on a bad one.

Thanks for the help everyone! I picked it up for $50, so I would say I got a good deal.
