Side by side, both show same temperature reading, but one reads 68% and one reads 36% humidity.

Anyone know how to calibrate an electronic hygrometer?

Depends on the brand. If you Google the brand and “calibration” you’ll probably get the instructions.

The 68% is the most accurate out of the two for this time of year. 38% is pretty dry.

That's what I figure too.  Especially since I'm not creating a static arc every time I touch something and it was pouring rain outside.

As we well know, when our furnaces "kick on", humidity levels start dropping and we have to have to provide more humidity for some things. If you are wearing slippers, slide across the floor an touch someone. If they get "zapped", the lower number is probably correct.

Do they have LED readouts? Is it possible that the 38% is really 68%, but the little lights that make up the numbers are on the fritz? Happens to me all the time -- eights turn into threes when the two bars on the left conk out.

Following OM45GE 's advice I checked a couple of web pages, removed the batteries and did a hard reboot. Now they are both within a couple % points, and it is the lower number, currently 37% and 38%.
Thanks everyone for your responses. The high number one was the one that I use in my instrument cases, and it looks like it was the one that was off.

Drop it into a bucket of water. If it doesn't show 100% ten minutes later, throw it away...
