Not really. When an economy has shrunk by 31% and it reopens you'll get a big jump. You need about 46% to cover the downturn. We had a big jump, Eurozone had a big jump. Next time the figures were released the increase was much smaller and many are expecting it to shrink next time.

The Dow Jones index has tanked during the past 2 days. It all depends upon who your ask.

We're still in autumn, countries are one-by-one being compelled back into total lockdown and there's the prospect of a very long, hard and deadly winter ahead.

I'll save words like 'impressive' for the care workers who actually deserve it.

The net GDP for the country this year will be historically tragic and that's not all. Jobs lost, income decreased substantially, businesses closing, huge local, state, and federal deficits. Infrastructure a disaster, and now a new wave of increasing virus cases and hospitalizations. The stock market is correcting for the lack of virus containment. The US economy is in for more of a tough stretch and "snapshot" numbers mean absolutely nothing. Maybe by Q2 or Q3 we will see some real growth again.

It’s only impressive to a very specific news organization when offered devoid of context. We’ve also had the worse Dow run since March. One negative thing, one positive thing, neither actually matter to the economic reality of the vast majority of Americans.
