Unsolicited phone call from American Medical.

Had it not shown up as being from my area code, possibly a neighbor, or somebody from the Golden Tones  Senior Chorus calling about the funeral for one of our members this afternoon,  I would not have picked up.
Young lady with accent like Apu from the Simpsons called to verify that I am having some pain in my lower back, and knees.

She must have dialed the wrong number, because, as I informed her, I am a double amputee and have no knees.

By some MIRACLE, right after she hung up, my limbs were restored, except for the toenail on my right foot, big toe.
Want pictures of my toe?

Wishing you all a scam-free day....

Mike, I got a call similar to that the other day except it started out: thank you for your order for a knee brace...... at which point I told her in no uncertain terms that I hadn't ordered anything and I better not receive anything because if I did, I wasn't going to pay for it..... at which point she hung up.

There are ways to get these people to hang up, you just have to be quick in your thinking.

Back when we were getting calls from "Windows" telling us our computer was sending out bad information on the internet I told them that I didn't have a computer, but they insisted that I log into their website and I said again that I did not have a computer because they are only used to look at porn and I would not allow one in my house. They continued to insist that my computer was doing bad things and I continued to insist that I didn't have one. Finally I said "Listen, I don't believe in modern technology, I don't have a computer, electricity or even a telephone." After a few seconds they hung up.

She was going to promise you a miracle but it seems she didn't have to.

I'm beginning to feel unwanted if I don't get at least one scam addressed to me personally each day. Last night I got an email from Amazon informing me that my new $1200 cel phone is being delivered to a lady in Colorado. That was upsetting until I realized I have no cel phone service, no Amazon account, and no acquaintances in Colorado. I hope Linda likes her new phone.

I got a call and a text from two different individuals who wanted to know why I called them and texted them. Apparently someone has spoofed my cell number.

...dunno about your experiences Mike, but this past couple of weeks I've been experiencing a minor miracle of sorts myself:  7+ years in [albeit probably a bit less than 30 min./day] and I'm starting to be able to be able to hear [i.e. correctly anticipate/"feel"] some of the chord changes in songs I've sung (?), accompanied by an in/out roll, hundreds if not thousands of times.  smiley

Otoh, maybe it's just evidence of "where there's life, there's hope."

I keep getting ones from “the warranty company” telling my my car warranty is about to expire. Sadly, they are all robo calls, so I have no one lto engage with a cock-and-bull story. Another good reply to a live caller is “Well, I’m a lawyer, and....” Rarely gets any farther.

Haven't had a land line I phone for years. have however established quite a list of friends & businesses in my "phone book". Unless the number is identifiable, I ignore it. I figure if it's important, they'll leave a message. Works for me.

For all the "talk" I have heard about utilities stopping that type of activity, I am still waiting for results. The other day I received another "grandson/granddaughter needing financial aid" type of call.

When I get the "grandpa" calls, I like to engage them in conversation. I ask them if they need any money, and tell them that if they'll give me their checking account number and online banking password, I'll transfer some money to their account. For some reason, they always hang up on me.

For the credit card calls from the folks from Pakistan and India, I resort to the use of the worst obscenities and ethic slurs that I can think of.

There's usually a delay before the automated massage kicks in, so I just hang up before it starts. They don't call back.
