I'm looking for the best condenser mic pair I can buy for less that $100. By less than $100, I mean around $90ish, because I have a $100 gift card, and I need enough left over to cover tax.

My friend told me the MXL 551 is the best mic he owns for recording guitar and mandolin, but unfortunately the 551s arent available except with the 550. I'd like to have the 550 too, but I truly only want two 551s. So, are there any alternatives to the MXL 551 that I can buy two of them for like, $94?

There’s not a lot out there for less than $100 for a pair. But Behringer usually makes something pretty decent for not too much:

I very much like the reviews on these! They definitely sound like they're better than their price implies

If you can find used ones in good condition, look at Audio-Technica AT2021, AKG's project studio line, CAD and the line called "Studio Project"
