I have no connection to this banjo, but I saw what is listed as a "Tim Davis Custom Sunburst" banjo for sale on Guitar Center's website for $1,799. Here is the link. I'm not sure which model this is, but knowing what I know about Davis banjos, I'm sure this is a pretty good deal. Best of luck!
That's been up there for, like, six-to-eight months at least. It disappeared for a while (sold?) and then reappeared (returned?). According to Tim Davis, he believes it was custom-ordered with a pretty big neck. And, to me, it looks like there's a chunk missing at the top of the back of the headstock. I called GC to ask about it, they said their store employees were not allowed to answer questions at the time (early Covid). So didn't pursue.
If you're referring to the one in Florida, I looked at it before a customer dropped it and snapped the peghead just above the nut. It has been repaired and reduced to 1250. I looked at it just a couple days ago.
As of a couple weeks ago it was priced in the &$1600 or $1700 range and they were rating it "Excellent," which in GC condition ratings equals "As New." Too bad about the break.
But I remember it had a pretty chunky neck but the headstock was broke while in Guitar Center and repaired
