Hi everyone! It's been a while! Hope y'all are doing fine in these strange times.
As some of you know, I've been doing research for a discography of Blue Grass singles 1946-1958 that I hope to have ready next year. Here's a "deep catalog" question for you historians...does anyone know who are the banjo and mandolin player who recorded with Walter and Frankie Bailes for the Sarg label (of Luling, TX) in 1956?
Both players are extremely tasteful and clean, and it's really unlikely they would be unknown players.
Thanks for your help!
Is this the same Walter Bailes of Bailes Brothers Grand Ole Opry fame? "Frankie" sounds female, like maybe a wife or sister?
Hey Dick! Yes it's the same Walter Bailes, and Frankie was his wife...after the Bailes Brothers broke up they performed gospel music together first in Arkansas (briefly) and then in Texas.
Leroy Troy might know, he knew Walter Bailes.
