For sale is a 1954 Gibson RB-100 with an added Vintage Huber flathead tone ring. Serial Number 4-882-78. This banjo is wonderful to play and has great tone with plenty of volume. I purchased it in July of 2018 from Geoff Hohwald. I actually bought it with the intention of reselling it, but I've kept it for a couple of years because how much I like it. I've played it at many gigs and it has performed well every time. The original neck is a slimmer, more comfortable profile than those of the 1960's.
The banjos has been well played and has several nicks and small dings. Several of those can be touched up if you wished, but it's a player's banjos for sure. There's some minor finish checking on the resonator as most banjos and guitars have from this era have. There's some minor fret wear, but no buzzes when you play. Right now I have it setup with an awesome Richie Dotson bridge, Gotoh Tuners, newer Presto Tailpiece, and 3-inch Lakota Leathers Strap. The original tuners (except friction 5th string tuner) and original tailpiece come with the banjo. The banjo comes with a newer, and well worn, Gibson case.
If you don't want the Gotoh tuners and strap, I can remove them and you can save $100
Please let me know if you have any questions.
