Does anyone know what internal microphone Rhiannon Gidden was using in her performance with Francesco Turrisi at the Met? I thought her banjo sounded great and there were no feedback problems. If you haven't experienced the concert, it is available in its entirety on YouTube here: youtube.com/watch?v=Ignhso0iv9U&t=2577s
One of the perks of having Rhiannon follow me on Twitter is that sometimes I can get questions answered directly: it was an Audio Technica drum mike strapped into the drum.
Thanks! I would love to have the model name for that mic.
I'll see what I can do.
Thanks so much for checking! I was thinking about experimenting with my Audio-Technica Pro 70 microphone mounted inside of my banjo. I have found that particular mic works fantastically when attached to the outside of my Ron Ewing dulcimer. The Pro 70 captures a super-wide, almost symphonic range of frequencies from that instrument. Also helpful was that Ron made me a lovely wooden mounting clamp that might even be adaptable to the banjo, we'll see.
