I don't have a tab for that song and don't find one in the Tab archives, but have moved your post to the Tab forum where it will get more reads and hopefully, someone will either have the tab or maybe even tab it out for you.

Why not contact Todd Taylor through his website and ask if he can sell you a tab for his arrangement?

Excellent suggestion Old Hickory, I will do just that.smiley

However, no doubt Todd is a terribly busy and much in demand star Banjo performer and charity supporter. Hence, he may not have the spare time.  Let’s hope he does.yes

Not a lot of performing going on these days. I would expect him to have time to answer a simple email.

Good luck.

I once began to tab out a simple version, based on a guitar tab I found. I shall try to find it one of the computers and finalize it. Wait a week or two, and I'll see what I can come up with.

Jan,
Here's a version that Tony Willis and I worked on years ago. Tony taught me many of the Tabledit tricks that I still use. A great tune for sure...Jack

Apache

Jack, Thank you kindly for the tab TablEdit File (.tef) file for Apache by the Shadows. The file is for other instruments (lead, acoustics, bass guitars etc.) and not the 5 string banjo. I was seeking Banjo easy to play tabs.  However, thank you very much for taking the time to reply and finding Tony Willis's great guitar TablEdit file. Much appreciated.  Maybe you could post  it the on  Flatpicker Hangout https://www.flatpickerhangout.com/ Tab section for guitarist, if its not already there .smiley

Hi Jack, it was that your photo shows you both with banjos.  I just sent you tab to the Guitarists in our local club down here in Australia and they really appreciated it.

Quote" Thanks Stan. Had a look at this and it is a really good TAB for playing the lead.   Thank you for thinking of me."  Thanks Jack.yes

I have made a tab based on the lead guitar as played by the Shadows, but that sounds a little thin when applied to the banjo. The Shadows used a lot of electric guitar effects (echo, vibrator, amplifying and so on), and the whole band contributes to the result with drums, bass and rhythm guitar. Todd Taylor uses a back-up machine with drums to accompany.

How do you intend to play it. Will you play it alone in your closet, or will you play it with a guitar playing friend, or a full Bluegrass band?  A good banjo arrangement will depend on how you will play it.

Hi Jan,
I agree that Apache was really meant to be a show song nothing more. Music was like that in those days. I've heard Todd play it and it's fine but nothing like the original. Tony and I arranged that song for one reason and that was to show the possibilities of Tabledit and we used all kinds of bends etc. Tony was the real brains behind my edited arrangement.....Jack

I like your tab arrangement. You have caught a lot of the difficult electric guitar licks (and which cannot be transferred to the banjo)

Thank you.  Yes. I will be playing it along with other amateur musician at our local Chords Club and Bluegrass group - guitars, uke, harmonica, double bass, etc players. I will obviously be closet! playing first. Cheers Stan

Here is first stripped off version. The core melody without any sound effects. It sounds boring to play alone. I am working to make a more banjo version of it, with more fill in licks and rolls and accompaniment.

I uploaded a tab and tab-generated audio file in the tab library. It's for an intermediate level player but might be useful for beginners. This song is a bit difficult to render effectively on banjo.

I have also uploaded my version in the tab archive: https://www.banjohangout.org/tab/browse.asp?m=detail&v=24531. It is an easy version, and I have used a lot of rolls to fill out the melody.
