I have a Gibson Florentine tenor banjo 40 hole arch top . It has the initials - R H G on the truss rod cover. Does anyone know who this might be - I suppose this was the original owner - Thanks
This question will probably be very difficult to get answered. Gibson made a lot of Florentines back in the 1920s and earl 1930s, it may be impossible to discover who RHG was way back then.
If you can post photos of the banjo there may be other clues. The number stamped inside the rim may reveal to what music store the banjo was originally delivered...
Post some pictures, contact joe Spahn if you can , he has researched Gibson shipping ledgers and may be able to provide some more info as to where your banjo was first shipped.
Rather Hard to Guess.
Maybe the top and bottom rubbed off and it used to belong to Ruth Bader Ginsberg. (RIP).
