I believe Dan Levenson still appears on BHO now and again. You might ask him directly.

I can order it from the US for $30 and pay the shipping which is reasonable, I would need to check DVD region formats

I was hoping someone may have a secondhand copy on their shelves.

Good choice, I found Dan's teaching method to be excellent for basic strum, double thumb and drop thumb. He also has 3 free lessons available on the hangout. I've added link to rocketsciencebanjo which is similar style to Dan's teaching.

You should be able to get Dan's book in the meantime. Coupled with the free hangout videos should be ok.

I read somewhere that the quality of the print wasn't that good in the book. It could have been the digital version though.

There is no issue with print quality with any of the Mel Bay books I have bought. You really may need both the book and DVDs (especially if you are a visual learner). The both items assume no previous knowledge. The DVDs will show you what to do. The book explains what to do with exercises. So far. the DVDs sound better, but there's more.

The DVDs use one tune, "Spotted Pony," to take you through the basic stroke, left-hand fingering, chords, open-G tuning, double-C tuning, etc. The book also starts with "Spotted Pony," but also has 11 other tunes that have tabs to take you through the basic, drop thumb and "kitchen sink" versions. So you can a repertoire while you learn.

Disclosure: I started with the book after I had a weekend workshop with Dan. I have not used used or seen the DVDs (I have had two later workshops with Dan).

Here are the details on the DVDs: https://clawdan.com/index.php?/products/clawhammer_banjo_from_scratch/

If you get the digital edition of the book, make sure it is a pdf version and not a kindle as you'll inevitably want to print out pages and the kindle version makes it very difficult.

Related to your other question re holding the banjo. Dan goes through in reasonable detail the way he holds it and why. (Both in the book and the hangout free videos, and I'd imagine on the dvd which I've not seen). I went to a beginners workshop with Dan a couple of years ago, and a couple of banjo players found it helpful to change to Dans method of holding the banjo on thigh instead of lap holding.
