They'll clear the street here so it is passable but won't do much cleanup.  It usually amounts to cutting the tree with a chain saw and pushing the cut section off to the side of the road.

I once once lived where a power company collected tree related debris, and ground it up. The sawdust was there for the taking. Maybe you should have an aggressive paralegal to check the local government's justification for making that statement. Or, send a freedom of information request for the legal document that justified the change in procedure. They may have just decided to do this during a municipal meeting.

If it was my branch from my tree then I would think I was responsible to deal with it.
Generally speaking anything the govt gets involved in gets screwed up.

Next time use loopers(pruners) on the thin stuff.

With four acres of pine and oak I have learned a good pair of loopers will relieve a whole lot of swearing.

Neighbor has a Stihl power pole chain saw. Cute little 12" bar but it makes very short work of the heavy duty pruning.

All that tree trash = storm damage?
