"Red River Valley" is the tune for today. It's #40 in my 100 Tunes in 100 Days Challenge. Many of us who grew up in the 1950s and 60s used to hear this and I think it's an interesting little tune. Enjoy the music!
Nice version Butch, and great picking.
I like that one. Before I knew about bluegrass I heard this rock’n’roll version by Johnny & the Hurricanes. youtu.be/kvrD7XDwQ3Q

Butch, growing up in the fifties I remember Red River Valley well among the many cowboy and folk songs prevalent in my childhood. It remains one of my favorites. While I did fall in line for a while with pop music during the British invasion and the Woodstock era, folk music has always remained first in my heart. This underpins my passion for banjo. Great choice of tunes.
