We're having our first Scrabble/Dinner/Jam tonight since January.

There are five of us (one sketches while the other four have it out on the board then we all eat and play) and we figured we've been in the same band and riding in cars with different combinations of "Us 5" so being together in the same kitchen seems no less dangerous.
We are all dedicated to not mingling in unknown or uncontrollable situations so as not to introduce any new infection to the group.

We are all able to stay home for as long as we see necessary and appreciate having this much control over what and whom we have contact with.

We do the same thing. I'm in a group of ladies (never more than 4) that play cards, visit, eat and just enjoy each other's company. We've been doing that since the start of the lockdown. We're all very careful where we go, who we see, wear our masks and wash our hands or use hand sanitizer. So far, so good.

It really does help to be able to see friends and not be isolated all the time.

It’s all about knowing your friend isn’t it? I had to jump in a side by side (ATV) with someone the other day, his wife is heavily pregnant and mine has MS so we are both being very careful. I asked if he wanted me to put a mask on, his answer was do you need to? As soon as we picked up our casualty, things were different then and it was masks/gloves/goggles time.

The supper, smoking and singing made up for the awful Scrabble game.

An awful game usually indicates poor playing. “ coincidentally” . How bout them quote marks ?! Nice?

An awful game is in direct proportion to bad letters.
Were you not paying attention to this talk earlier?

Scrabble has always been a big part of our family life, I am sure it helped my kids to do well at school and, now it is helping my grandkids, we like Monopoly too.

We've relaxed the 50 point penalty for bad words or challenges.
Makes for a much pleasanter game especially with folks that haven't played a few hundred times.

We used to play "double points for bad words" But I think this is a different definition of bad. I'd give you some examples, but that would annoy Sherry.

Do you play the "You can't have a word if you can't provide a definition" rule ?

I had an aunt who memorised the two letter word list, but didn't know an ai from a zo. I eventually refused to play with her.

Definitions aren't a rule of the game.

2 letter words are very important to good plays.

Qi

Nu

Mu

Xu and words with only vowels such as oi,aa,ae,ai,oe.

Only consonants...hm,sh,mm.

You don't have to memorize all the 2 letter words...just the handful of odd ones.

I think mander, you should have 7 blank tiles. Then with a dry erase marker, make your own letters and words. Move it right along..
