The Tune For The Day (#33) in my 100 Days Challenge is "Monroe's Hornpipe", which was on Bill Monroe's "Bluegrass Instrumentals" album. I think it's a good one and hope you will, too!
Thank you Butch for the post. Thank you for taking the time to do this every day. It is appreciated. Thank you again
Thanks Butch... love the way you play this. I've already slowed it down and I'm learning it myself
When I first got started playing banjo, it was a one hour elective class, at Morehead State University, in 1980.
I loved it. I had enough spare money to buy 2 albums. I did good too, since I had no idea what I was doing. Luck played a big part that day.
I got Foggy Mountain Banjo and Bill Monroe's Instrumental album.
I drove my Dad and brother crazy listening to those two albums.
Mr. Bill was a musical genius and virtuoso. To this day I listen to the songs on that album. The subtle nuances always amaze me.
It must have been unique and amazing to have been associated with Bill Monroe the way you were.
Again, very nicely played. Thank you for doing this.
Butch, what a pleasure your posts are. I always enjoy listening. Thank you.
