So that’s typical GuitR Center “we have no idea what we are talking about” vintage error.

What that is is a GIbson RB. Just RB. Not a RB250. Gibson came out with those fairly recently, I think in the late 90’s. Some had tons rings, some did not. Not a Mastertone and not a RB-250.

They are pretty nice instruments, but Guitar Cneter once again dropped the ball on the ID. Which sometimes really can work to your advantage.

That unit is a fair price, maybe a little high, Ive seen those for 1200 to 1800, but a fair price.

If you hunt Craig’s list, once in a blue moon they come up for under 1,000.

On the Hangout, once in a while for around 1200.

It appears the banjo in the Guitar Center listing is a Gibson RB (not an RB250). Tone hoop, dot inlay, unique peghead. I think they listed for just north of $1000 (someone please verify), so this one is mislabeled and overpriced.

A friend of mine had a blond 60's Gibson RB500 bowtie.

I don't know who thought up that peghead design but I'd like to know what they were smoking. It's half double cut and half fiddle, like they started cutting out one style and switched in midstream.

I called Guitar Center about a '64 ODE resonator Model 32 a few months ago. The guy was "unaware" that someone had carved the paddle headstock into the shape it was currently in--a real butcher job, then removed it from their shop and site after I offered a reasonable price saying that "he'd ask the manager". I rue the few times I've ever had to walk in their doors, even for an emergency string run. Grrr...anywhoo...

I think the idea was to have it not be anything used on a Mastertone. I like it. That may put me in the minority.

Link to listing.

Guitar Center site provides no way to directly send comments or ask questions about listings, so no way to tell them they have it wrong. Not worth navigating their phone system to talk to someone at the Manhattan, NY, store.  I'm in Brooklyn this week, but no way I'm going into Manhattan for a non-essential trip to a music shop.

My opinion that counts for nothing is that $2060 is a bit too high for one of these. Especially with 8.95% sales tax in Manhattan bringing the total to $2244.

I love Guitar center. They never get anything right.

Last year I bought a beautiful Mint 1955 Martin for a hair over 2k. Everything was exactly as they described it. They were just off on one thing... the date...by about 40 years!
