Whether on the boat,in the car or on the wharf around 10am Gramp would ask the rhetorical question,"Time for a mug-up ain't it?"
At which time all work would stop and often as not, last night's dessert or home-made doughnuts would accompany a cup of coffee or tea.

I hear it called Brunch,but it'll always be a mug-up to me.

If a late breakfast can be combined with an early lunch, then some MUST give it a name.
I just eat something when I feel like it. Maybe eat more in a while.
Done until very late afternoon, eat again.

On my friends farm, it was always called ‘drinkins’. As kids we’d be playing around the farm but at 11 would always gravitate to the yard near the house where a big tray of tea, juice and biscuits (not the scones you guys have for breakfast). As we got older and stared doing jobs around the farm for pocket money, we eventually graduated onto tea ourselves.

Blimey, that’s brought back some great memories - thanks Steve.

Drinkins and mug-up are very similar,Jonty.
There are 100 plus years of Scottish influence here.
My two Great-Grandfathers came here on boats from there.

Even to the point of Scot connections to our Maine Accent.
