I’ve just been reading an old discussion here about the first time you saw a pro player on stage. We don’t get much live banjo picking here in the UK, but I’ll never forget the first time I heard Bill Runkle play his banjo break in Two More Years by Del McCoury and his Dixie Pals. This was 35 years ago and it still sends shivers down my spine! Bill’s banjo smashes in like a bomb blast and he contrast between this and Del’s high voice and tense singing style is incredible.
