I have been on banjo hangout for years and you post something you want to buy and then the modarators remove or hid it. i may get removed from this site but you cannot even have a civil conversation or ask without somebody removing your ad it is like a bunch of little children on here that have nothing better to do than move someone's post an i posted my ad in by sell or trade. i use to enjoy this site but some of you moderator's have let your contol go to your head and i will be in touch with eric. not here to stir up trouble but make banjo hangout enjoyble again. stan.

Mr Temple,
I apologize if I misread your post. It appears you have a bridge to sell, yes?
Did you try posting the bridge you want to sell in the “Classifieds”?
The “Buy, Sell or Trade” Forum is used to discuss (in part) the items one lists in the Classifieds.

Hoping to be helpful,
Eddie

You might try reading the rules in detail. If you don’t like them, that’s fine—but odn’t try to circumvent them. The Classifieds are for the purpose of buying or selling instruments and parts. That’’s to keep the other forums from getting cluttered with what amount to buy and sell ads. You seem to have totally ignored the classifieds in several “wanted” posts. Given the way you phrased the posts, they are “wanted to buy” ands and belong in the Classifieds. Complaining about moderators’ decisions, as you do in your post, is a rule violation that can lead to locking your account. I’m unsure why you seem to think the rules do not apply to you, but that’s what seems to be at the root of your problems.

This is the standard email I send to people that post in the swap shop without posting a classified ad:

I've hidden your topic in the swap shop, the swap shop is for the discussion of classified ads.
Please post a classified ad for the item you're looking for, reply to this email and I will unhide your topic.

Thanks, Lynne

This is the email I received back:

It says buy sell trade and I hate to even post anything on the hangout you all remind me school children.

I send these stock emails a lot of people and for the most part people either ignore them or post an ad.

He obviously doesn't understand and wants to blame all of us "children" for his inability to follow rules.

I think mods here do a pretty good job. Especially as unpaid volunteers. That said they can be a little surly at times. It happens to the best of us. No offense meant to the good mods here. And let me tell you, they're strict about the "don't talk back" rules. Once they've made a decision, the mods are not lenient towards those that question them. But for the most part, they're a reasonable group of people.

Perhaps Mr Temple doesn't know how to post an ad in the classifieds? Is there a how-to out there that could help?

I think the "don't talk back to your mama/papa" smiley  concept pertains to squabbling in the public thread.  PMs are better for hashing out different views with the moderators.  That's how they can learn also about how to apply the rules better.

Exactly. We’re always willing to engage in constructive dialog off the forums.

When I send my usual swap shop email if the member is new or doesn’t know how to post an ad I will send instructions on how to do it.

BUT they have to be willing to do it.

The mods have a thankless job and I commend them for the time they take and the thought they give to their posts. There is no way in hell I could ever do that job.

What part of the Hangout rules don't you understand or think you shouldn't have to follow?

Posting about buying is pretty easy:

1 - If you want to discuss something specific you're trying to sell, first POST A CLASSIFIED AD then post a message about it in the Swap Shop: Buy, Sell Trade forum.  No ad, no posting there.

2 - If you want advice on buying an instrument or part you're considering, post a message in the Shopping Advice forum.

This is not rocket science. It applies to everyone. The mods are not picking on you. They're not the ones acting like little children.
