There's nothing new here. Firstly Al posts videos with ludicrous conspiracy theorists. Not that Icke is wrong although he usually is. But sane economists have been saying this stuff for a long time. He's just repeating it. Far better to listen to people who really understand this stuff. Like Mark Blyth for instance. Thing is when ex Hereford goalkeeper David Icke appears the case is completely devalued.

I have not watched that video so have no comments about it. But Graham's reply is so typically British that I wonder if it is taught in schools there? There is no response to the actual contents, no examination of the ideas, only disparagement of the source. If Al has posted other videos that Graham considers "ludicrous conspiracy" then this one must be the same. And the presence of David Icke "completely devalues the case". I've never heard of Ickie or that website, but it does not matter. The material is either factual or not and facts are not tainted in any way by who delivers them. Yet that is what substitutes for thinking these days. I hear it on a regular basis (for example) "that came from Fox News, so you know that it is a lie", and we could substitute CNN or whoever one despises these days. But even a broken clock is right twice a day. I remember years ago reading a book describing the "argument from intimidation", where the rebuttal to an unwelcome idea was on the order of "oh you can't possibly believe THAT, I mean nobody who is anybody listens to THOSE people, why they are not at all respectable, etc.", while never once even considering the truth or falsity of the matter.

I never actually watched Al 's vid but along those lines -Public radio did a documentary about Brazil or some other very large country getting their currency devalued.
It came down to trying to ----get folks back to ----having faith in the new money . --- It seemed it was a--- slippery tightrope .-----To keep inflation from getting out of hand and faith in the new money was the bane of many failed attempts. It was more of simply tricking them into it ,if I remember correctly.

The actual contents are generally fine. I agree with them although they are overwrought. But they are well known. These are ideas I've come across from people who really know their stuff. It's not not new. I much prefer learn-ed sources.

I have indeed made disparaging remarks about conspiracy theorists. Because that is all they deserve. I'm not going to take much notice of David Icke whose conspiracies range from anti-semetic to extra terrestrial. Some people seem to live in a conspiracy theory world. It's the biggest sign of the craziness of our world. Most conspiracy theorists are so tied in to their conspiracies that no amount of fact and debunking will help. So no I'm not going to listen to Icke repeating the well known. I'm going to listen to people who have a decent foothold in reality. Like Mark Blyth for instance. Or I might read Frank Partnoy on The Atlantic on The Looming Bank Collapse.

It would be of real interest to me, how Germany and other countries fared and bounced back after a breakdown of their currency. But not enough to go googling on it. Ain't the information age a wonderful time .Knowing what I want to know is right there waiting

I watched the video and of course it wasn't something I didn't already know. But the only thing I disagreed with is the reason Rome fell. Rome was paying conscripts to fight Rome's battles. When you ain't got skin in the game you're not going to give it your best. Non Romans had no pride in fighting for Rome.
