I recently bought an Iida 240 that has some issues with the peghead faceplate. The lacquer coating is pealing off. It appears that the floral inlays are still intact but the Iida, Est 1958 decal came off with the lacquer. Does anyone know if there is someplace to purchase a new decal or if there is someone who can cut a new decal? The remainder of the banjo is near mint.
Seeing how that banjo was built in Japan, circa late '70's to mid '80's....I seriously doubt you'll be able to find the "est. 1958" decal.
If the Iida name is actual MOP inlay, i wouldn't worry about the "1958", i'd just get the headstock face cleaned up, get the old lacquer off there, then refinish the headstock face.
If the "Iida" is missing theres plenty of people around that could one for you from mother of pearl, then you'd have to inlay into the faceplate.
Also, welcome to the Hangout !

You can buy waterslide decal paper on the web.
Scan or download your logo.
Print your design on it with laser or inkjet printer.
Spray decal with clear. I like aerosol shellac.
Cut out decal.
Waterslide onto project.
Clearcoat over top of decal/ project.
