Hello!

Years and years ago I ordered a nut file. Don’t remember who from, nor what size it is. :(.

Engraved in the file is a number ‘2’ and ‘made in Switzerland’ and written with a sharpie is the number 821. Not sure what 821 stands for, or that matter what the engraved 2 is for.

Do either of these numbers give anyone an idea of what the gauge file this is?

If not I will file a slot and see which string fits best.

Thanks,

Ken

Just take a micrometer and measure the thickness of the blade. Write it on the file with your own Sharpie.

I've never seen the file that was exactly the claimed measurement but they don't have to be.

Ok, I have a set of calibration bars for the micrometers used on the Space Shuttle at Lockheed. It was given me by one of the master machinists long after he retired and the Shuttle project was done.
