Here is Big Bill Broonzy's protest blues song, "If you're black, get get back." The banjo backup is not fancy--just a blues shuffle finger-strummed in open G. But it works for this song.

35planar Thanks! I know of Bourgeois Blues, although I've only heard it a few times. I believe it was co-written by Leadbelly and Alan Lomax after trying to rent a hotel room in D.C. Another fine blues protest song! Unfortunately, I don't memorize lyrics very well any more. I learned "If you're black" back in the sixties, but have hardly played it for the past 30.

I've just learned that Bill Broonzy named this song "Black, Brown, and White. I learned it from friends and never knew the real name.
