I just received word for the West Virginia Division of Culture and History that the Appalachian String Band Music Festival, commonly known as Clifftop, has been canceled.

It makes sense to cancel the festival, but hopefully 2021 will allow us to get together in Fayette County, WV for good tunes, exciting contests, dozens of interesting vendors and maybe a little rain.

It might be a little too much to ask for square dancing that soon.

Thanks , Bob. I was going to call you if we didn’t hear any news. I told Mary , if anyone would know , it would be you. See you down the road sometime. Mark

Really no other choice; the very nature of Clifftop would make it a prime nexus for spreading the Coronavirus.

It's been sad seeing cherished festivals cancelled one by one, but this is a wise decision IMHO. Here's hoping for more joy at future gatherings.

This is a common thread with festivals. My summer of fun has been cancelled or postponed.

I usually go to bluegrass festivals as I pick the three fingers a lot. This was going to be my first Clifftop experience.

I also love to clawhammer (a little less than a lot) as that is where my roots are. I have a fiddle player buddy who has been going for....this would be his 3rd year....we were gonna head out.

I look forward to next year. The recordings from years past will have to do for now.
