So there's been other posts on this new Steve Martin / Steep Canyon Rangers clip already. But I'm curious... what banjos are Steve Martin and Graham Sharp playing.
Steve looks like he's playing a Nechville pot, but the inlay on his neck reads "Hartford". Not familiar with a Nechville Hartford model.
Graham looks like he's playing a Deering of some sort.
Graham is playing a Deering Terry Baucom model
I agree it looks like a Nechville pot. Likely a custom neck from Nechville?Or possibly they fit the neck from one of Steve’s other banjos to the pot? I’d send Tom a message and ask him.
I know he played a gold plated Nechville Orion, but the inlay pattern on the neck was different. My guess is he has a new neck or fretboard.

That is happening more these days. Players discover they like a particular neck from another banjo, but really like the tone they get from a banjo they have, but don't like the neck, so they switch. Others want a different neck and get one custom built, but the peghead head logo is patented, so they usually just use the Gibson logo that comes with the fretboard on the new neck, or use the builder's name for the peghead.
