Is there someone out there that could make some nice catalin tuner buttons, if I provide the material? I have some catalin lying around, and I'm hoping to make a deal with someone to get some sets made

I don’t get the prices I see on these type buttons. I know they are pretty, but why do these buttons cost so much? I don’t get why they bring more than the fake pearl buttons? I truly don’t know, I’d love a set, they’re pretty, but they’re a lot of money.

They are very pretty. This is what I have. Imagine how many buttons could be machined from this!

it's an old block of German catalin. No idea how old it is. It doesn't have as much marbling, but it's still very nice looking stuff

Duck Duck Go says:

Catalin is a brand name for a thermosetting polymer developed and trademarked in 1927 by the American Catalin Corporation of New York City, when the company acquired [citation needed] the patents for Bakelite. A phenol formaldehyde resin, it can be worked with files, grinders, and cutters, and polished to a fine sheen.
