I've searched high and low for tabs for Pete Seeger's "Garden Song," but I've had no luck. I've figured the chords out, I'm just not sure how ole Pete's pickin' it-- if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. I'd love to play it for my preschoolers!

I'm no expert on Pete Seeger's various up-picking styles (I play clawhammer), but here's some tab with a simple repeating pattern that you might find useful. I don't know your playing level or how much of this may be new to you. Seeger sings the tune in the key of D. The tab uses double-C tuning (gDGCD) with a capo at the 2nd fret to get to D. You could also tune up to D (aDADE). You can play the tab in the key of C without a capo.

The tab tries to indicate right-hand picking thus: t = thumb, i = index, p = pinch with thumb and index or middle finger. Try playing the 1st measure over and over to get a feel for the pattern. The chords are for a possible guitar accompaniment. If you don't use a capo, the chords for guitar are: C, F, G Am and D.

I have added some of the lyrics to help you fit the banjo to the words.

It's a cute tune. I hope this is helpful.
